OUTPATIENT PHARMACY SERVICES
Ambulatory patients at the Selayang Hospital are served by two Outpatient Pharmacies located on Level 3 and 4. Pharmacists monitor patients' medications and ensure each patient receives appropriate drug therapy. Pharmacy technicians fill in the prescriptions which are then counter-checked and dispensed by the pharmacists. During this process patients are offered assistance with medication-related problems; pharmacists review prescriptions for proper dosing and identify potential interactions with other medications; and pharmacists provide clear and complete instructions for storage of medications.
Pharmacists also counsel patients either individually or in groups on the appropriate use of medications. The purpose of this counseling is to discuss the various aspects of drug therapy and to answer any questions patients may have about taking medications. Printed information about the medications being dispensed is also provided to patients to assist with the counseling process.
